Establishing Civil Society

FACILITATING CONSULTATIONS

  • Consultations already exist within each CSO and can be considered as consultations at the bottom
  • By forming Sectors, consultations are extended within the sector
  • By forming a NCSC consultations are extended into the national domain

DEMOCRATIC PROCESS

  • Each CSO has settled leadership by democratic process
  • Liaison Officers selected by democratically elected administration
  • Sector Chairpersons elected by Liaison Officers to National Civil Society Council
  • Chairperson of NCSC elected by democratic process

OBJECTIVES -- FUNCTIONS

  • To allow Civil Society to choose its own representatives and delegates to represent its sectors nationally, regionally and internationally
  • To be Representative of Civil Society in Barbados

PRIORITIES

  • To empower and strengthen the links that have been established under the name of BANGO

PRIORITY ACTION

  1. Develop a pool of volunteers who are capable of convening all the sectors of Civil Society
  2. Train a cadre of Representatives who are capable of Representing Civil Society
  3. Make representation for the appointment of Civil Society Organisations to Boards and Committees of Government
  4. Announce our readiness to participate in the CSME
